Technical Support Information – Desktop Computers

In order to view the webcast, you must have a currently supported HTML5 compliant web browser with standards-based media playback support on supported versions of the Windows and Macintosh operating systems.

Video webcasts require that you have a broadband Internet connection with at least 600kbps of download connectivity. If you are having difficulty with playback of a video webcast, for example playback is buffering frequently, please check your internet connection. Downloadable audio-only MP3 files are available for each session.

Using the Capital Reach Media Player

For each session, there may be two different versions of the media player. Some sessions may include video of the presenter.

  1. Slide video – video of the speaker's slide presentation is the default stream displayed in the player. This option displays all speaker mouse movements and videos included in presentations.
  2. Audio and slides – audio of the speaker's presentation is the default stream in the player. Static slide images in the slide presentations are synchronized to the audio stream.

Navigating the Presentation Webcast

The player offers several tools to navigate the presentation:

  1. "Browse Slides" icon – select the browse slides icon to navigate to any slide in the presentation by selecting the slide thumbnail image.

Player Tools

  1. "Speaker Information" icon – if available, displays information about the speakers and presentations in the session.
  2. "Download Media" icon – select this button to download an audio-only file of the session.
  3. Playback Controls
    • Play/Pause button – select this button to play or pause the default media stream of the player.
    • Stop button – select this button to stop the default media stream of the player.

Mobile Device Support

Presentation playback is available on supported versions of Apple iOS devices (Apple iPad and iPhone) and Android devices with an enabled Internet connection and a currently supported web browser with standards based media playback support. Users of these devices can stream sessions to their mobile device. Users have the option to stream either slide presentation video or audio-only from the session. Please note that some advanced interactivity features of the desktop player may not be supported on the Apple iOS mobile devices.

Dr. Alex Stagnaro-Green is the Regional Dean of the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford and is Professor of Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Medical Education. He graduated from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1983 and performed his residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. From 1986 to 1988, he completed a fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. In 2017, he obtained a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago. An internationally known researcher in the field of thyroid and pregnancy, in 1990 Dr. Stagnaro-Green published in the Journal of the American Medical Association the seminal article linking thyroid antibody positivity in euthyroid women with a doubling in the rate of spontaneous miscarriage. He has written over 60 articles on the topic of thyroid and pregnancy including demonstrating the relationship between thyroid antibodies and preterm delivery, as well as postpartum thyroiditis. In 2011, Dr. Stagnaro-Green was the chair and lead author on guidelines of thyroid and pregnancy that were internationally endorsed. Dr. Stagnaro-Green has led comprehensive curriculum change at three medical schools and has served on over a dozen Liaison Committee on Medical Education site visits, serving as team secretary on eight of the visits. He has published 20 articles in medical education in multiple areas including core entrustable professional activities, medical student research and curricular innovation. Between 2015 and 2017, Dr. Stagnaro-Green was the lead faculty member representing the University of Illinois College of Medicine's team for the Association of American Medical College's Core Entrustable Professional Activities collaborative. Given his dedication to medical education, he obtained a Master of Health Professions Education in 2005 from the University of Illinois College of Medicine Chicago.

Kristien Boelaert is a Reader in Endocrinology at the University of Birmingham and a Consultant Endocrinologist at University Hospitals Birmingham. Her clinical research interests include the management of thyroid dysfunction, nodules and endocrine disorders in pregnancy. Her laboratory research programme focuses on the pathogenesis of thyroid cancer and she is involved in a number of clinical trials in the field of thyroid disease. She leads the Committee drafting the NICE Guidelines on Thyroid Diseases, the National Consensus Statements on Management of Thyroid Cancer and the RCOG Green Top Guidelines for Management of Thyroid Diseases in Pregnancy. Kristien's research continues to attract funding from major grant awarding bodies and is evidenced by a rapidly growing list of publication and numerous invitations to speak at international conferences. She is Senior Editor for Endocrine Connections and BMC Endocrine Disorders and serves on the Editorial Boards of several endocrine journals including Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology. She is a member of the Society for Endocrinology Council and Clinical Committee, The ATA Research Committee and the RCP Specialist Certificate Examination Board.
